The SAIC Exploranium GR-135 Plus is a handheld radioisotope identification device that combines radiation detection with onboard gamma-spectrum analysis. Rather than functioning only as a survey meter, the GR-135 Plus uses a 1,024-channel analyzer to evaluate detected gamma radiation and identify radionuclides from its programmed libraries.

The instrument provides real-time count, count-rate, and dose-rate information on its backlit display and can present measurement data in both numeric and graphical formats. Visual and audible alarms support field searching, while stored readings can be retained in non-volatile memory for later review and analysis.

The GR-135 Plus is also designed to detect both gamma and neutron radiation sources. Manufacturer documentation specifies an energy range of 20 keV to 3.0 MeV and identifies the platform as a portable system for field radiation detection and nuclide identification. Data can be transferred from the instrument for additional analysis using the associated Exploranium software environment.
