The MacLean Power Systems SurgeTec Z21750 is a high-performance Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) lightning surge arrester engineered for reliable secondary voltage protection at utility service entrances, meter bases, and electrical distribution equipment. Classified for Category B and C installations, the SurgeTec is designed for repeated operation and continuous protection against lightning-induced surges and transient overvoltage events.

How It Works

The SurgeTec series provides secondary arrester protection with a patented fault withstand safety design, protecting meters and facility service entrances. When a lightning strike or switching transient sends a voltage surge through the system, the MOV technology inside the SurgeTec activates instantly — providing the path of least resistance to ground and clamping the surge to a safe level before it can damage downstream equipment.

Surge arresters provide the path of least resistance to ground for surges on a system. To provide the best protection, the lead wires should be kept as short as possible.
