Vietnam War US Army Variable Body Armor Vest, Ground Troops, Carborundum 1969, Large Long, Police Trade

An original Vietnam War–era US Army "Body Armor, Ground Troops, Variable Type, Small Arms/Fragmentation Protective" vest, manufactured by the Carborundum Company. This is the "Variable Body Armor" (VBA) developed by Natick Laboratories: a nylon-felt fragmentation vest that could be worn alone against shell and grenade fragments, with pockets for removable front and back hard plates.

Featuring the iconic olive drab design and labeled Large Long, this vest represents one of the protective armor systems fielded during the Vietnam War and is highly sought after by military collectors, historians, reenactors, and museums.

Note: The removable hard front and back armor plates are NOT included. Sold as a vintage militaria collectible, not as protective equipment.
